Bilibed (LED Based Phototherapy)
Phototherapy is the most frequently used device to treat Neonatal Jaundice. The efficacy of phototherapy depends upon irradiance (light intensity), the quality of light (optimal in the blue 450-475 nm), the exposed body surface area, & the duration of the exposure. The most commonly devices that are used to treat neonatal jaundice are the Fluorescent tubes lights, the halogen lamps, the xenon bulbs, & the fiber optic blanket.
Each of these devices has numerous disadvantages that include high heat production, unstable broad wave length light output (decreasing with age). The tubes or the halogen bulb need to be changed after 2000 hours or after 3 months which ever is earlier. The cost of tubes/bulb & the recurring maintenance cost.
To circumvent this issue, "Life Care System" has developed an innovative L.E.D. (light emitting diode) based Phototherapy system "Bilibed" that offers you numerous advantages with virtually no drawbacks.
The striking feature of this unique "Bilibed" comprises - Works on very low power. (26 Volts) Consumes only 16 watts as compared to 120 watts consumed by lamps. Hence saves your power & money.
- The distance between the light source & the baby need not be adjusted. The baby can be directly placed in the cradle above the LED light source without any fear of electrical hazards.
- Special blue light emitting diodes (LED) used in cluster to provide effective wave length between 450 to 480 nm range.
- A total of 320 LED's are placed in the under surface unit
- The detachable & light weight stand unit comprises a cluster of LED's.
- The LED has an incredible long life (more than 20000 hours), hence absolutely maintenance free & cost effective.
- The LED's does not produce any heat. The phototherapy source can be used in conjunction with any make radiant warmer.
- The baby cradle & the under surface box in mounted on a sleek trolley that will enhance the ambience of your NICU. Small storage compartment enhances your operational dexterity.
- The compact size of the phototherapy system saves your valuable floor space.
- Comfortable for the nursing staff. Nausea or giddiness symptoms can occur in conventional fluorescent lamps due to typical flickering glare of the alternating current (A.C.). This symptom can not occur in the solid state LED based "Bilibed" as it operates on direct current (DC).
